What is a native AI email connector?

A native connector is an integration built directly into an AI product (Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor) that uses a vendor-specific API like the Gmail API or Microsoft Graph. It only works inside that AI product and is restricted to the email providers the vendor chose to support — usually only Gmail and Outlook.

Why is MCP better than native connectors?
